Halloween Costumes & Giveaway!

I did it. I challenged myself to match my niece’s sketches of the girls’ demands and I finished.

Whoot, whoot!  Halloween here we come!

And the reaction of the girls….made it all worth it.

“Mama, that’s the prettiest halloween costume I ever saw!!”

Yay.

Bring on the candy.

I cut lot of corners, skipped a lot of steps; but it doesn’t matter. They don’t care or really won’t even notice.

All that matters is that they love them. They had a vision and we made it happen. (Me and Nat).

For just a few minutes today, they believed. They believed they could run super fast, they believed they could fly, they believed they were super heroes.

Super hero girl and super butterfly girl.

God, I love being their mama.

They chased each other and looked for rainbows. They chanted and sang, and screamed as loud as they could. They had a blast.

It was all worth a late midnight sewing session for sure.

At one point it resulted in a competition and battle of the super hero and the scooters.

Only one winner could prevail…….

And this face says it all. Who do you think outlasted the other?

My little girlie ended up where she loves the most. In her mama’s arms.

The big one..well, she didn’t give up until I made her go inside.

I love Halloween. My kids adore it and I do too.

Maybe because we had so much fun as kids ourselves. I remember my mom asking what we wanted to be and (the day of) going through the house and closet scrounging up whatever we had to put a costume together.

We could be whomever we wanted to be. Even if it was just for one day.

And in honor of our official favorite holiday of the year. We are doing a giveaway!

Let’s see who is paying attention.

I did my best to try and match up my niece’s sketches as well as I could. But there are a few noticeable differences.

If you can name 1 difference between the sketch and the girls’ costumes then I will enter you in a drawing to win a $25 Target Gift Card.

All you have to do is:

1) Leave a comment on the 1 difference from sketch to costume

2) All eligible entries will be placed in a random drawing (picked via random.org)

3) Giveaway ends Sunday night at midnight

4) Winner will be drawn Monday morning

5)  Contest open to US residents only

Ready, set, go!

Have fun.

PS–Thank you Nat! We loved the challenge and the inspiration. Muahhhhawwwahh!

iPad

I recently attended a Great Dane Rescue Tricky Tray with my great and dear friend JJ. This was our 4th year going. We look forward to hanging out together every year and we look forward to trying to win some serious loot. I haven’t had the best track record of winning.  Usually I end up with the door prize, some body lotion and a bag of dog treats.  This year I was super exhausted and was contemplating canceling but I decided I was on a mission.  A.)  I wanted to hang with JJ and B.)  I wanted to win an iPad.

When we got to the tricky tray I was thoroughly bummed that they didn’t have an iPad amongst the hundreds of amazing items.  Just a Samsung Galaxy Tablet….uggh…who wants that? Just kidding. I am sure it’s wonderful. But I have been coveting the iPad. I am and always have been an Apple girl. I was determined it (the iPad) would change my life. I had to have it.  I couldn’t justify spending the money though, even if it was going to make me a better mom, person, wife (that was the pitch I gave my husband).  But as the night wore on and I was seriously waning, (I drank a pot of coffee in a vain attempt not to fall face first in my chicken dinner) it occurred to me that there was another shot at the iPad…but it was 1 in 1000+.

The 50/50.

I was so ready to leave early, go home, and crawl in bed but something in the back of my mind told me to stay. Keep visiting and just wait.  And I am glad I did.

Can you believe it? I won.  I won the 50/50 raffle.

And let me tell you. I jumped up like I had just one the superbowl, hooting and hollering. I couldn’t believe it, I was overrun with excitement.  I am not even exaggerating when I tell you that the very next day, I dropped the kids off at school and headed straight for the Apple store.  I could write a poem or sing a song about my iPad.  That’s how much I love it. I spend every night cuddling with it. Sigh. I heart it so.

And I only I have (HAD) one rule! No one, I mean no one touches the iPad except me. (Okay, honey-do can cuddle with it too…I guess.)  But that’s it. No kids. They have iPod touches…both of them. (No, we didn’t buy them..one is honey-do’s and another is hand me down from my sister.)  They don’t need the iPad. They have their fun toys and I have mine.

Or at least I thought so…….guess who discovered it???

I don’t think she realized she would get caught. But the proof was in the puddin’.

48 images. This was just a sampling.

Sigh.

She is a precocious one indeed.

We had a talk, well more like a lecture. I explained to her that it’s off limits because I really don’t want my precious iPad to end up on this site–Sh** My Kids Ruined.  That would make me very, very sad.
